Research Product Refund Policy
At ABZ Bio Lab, we understand that running a smooth laboratory workflow depends on getting the exact materials you ordered, right when you need them, and in flawless condition. Because we supply high-purity life science research materials across the UK and Europe, we take full responsibility for ensuring your order arrives safely, accurately, and intact.
We’ve designed our research product refund policy to be as straightforward, fair, and hassle-free as possible. If something goes wrong during transit or if there’s an issue with your fulfillment, we are here to make it right—quickly and professionally.
The Nature of Temperature-Sensitive Laboratory Reagents
Due to the sensitive nature of synthesized peptides, lyophilized reference compounds, and sterile laboratory reagents, we cannot accept returns on opened, unsealed, or reconstituted products once they have been delivered.
Chemical integrity and cold-chain stability are critical in laboratory environments. Once a vial or bottle leaves our chain of custody and is delivered to a facility, we cannot re-verify its storage conditions or purity for another researcher. This strict standard protects all of our clients and guarantees that every item dispatched from our London and Amsterdam warehouses is 100% factory-sealed, unadulterated, and fresh.
However, if your shipment arrives damaged, incorrect, or incomplete, we will replace or refund it immediately.
When You Are Eligible for a Replacement or Full Refund
We stand behind our fulfillment and shipping guarantees. You are fully covered under our policy for any of the following circumstances:
1. Transit Damage or Broken Vials
While we use heavy-duty, temperature-buffered, and vacuum-sealed packaging, international and domestic shipping can occasionally be rough. If a glass vial, seal, or solvent bottle arrives cracked, broken, or compromised:
-
Take a clear photo of the damaged item and its original outer packaging within 48 hours of delivery.
-
Email the photos along with your order number to contact@abzbiolab.co.uk.
-
We will dispatch a free, prioritized replacement immediately or issue a full refund to your original payment method.
2. Discrepancy or Incorrect Items Sent
If we accidentally send you the wrong compound, incorrect vial size, or an incomplete item count:
-
Keep the item unopened in its original, sealed plastic packaging.
-
Contact our support team within 7 days of delivery.
-
We will ship the correct item right away and provide a pre-paid return label for the misplaced item if necessary.
3. Order Cancellations (Before Dispatch)
If you need to change or cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible. As long as your package has not been picked up by Royal Mail, DPD, or DHL, we can cancel your order and issue an instant 100% refund. Once a package is in transit with the courier, standard delivery rules apply.
How Our Refund Process Works (Step-by-Step)
We don’t believe in making you jump through administrative hoops to resolve an issue with your order.
1. Our Approach to Refunds
We understand that ordering research materials online means you want confidence in what you’re receiving. Before an order leaves our facility, products are checked against the order details and prepared for secure shipment. If your order arrives damaged, incorrect, faulty or does not match its description, please contact us as soon as possible. We’ll review the situation and explain the next steps rather than leaving you to work it out yourself.
2. Damaged or Incorrect Orders
If your package arrives damaged, or you receive a product that is different from what you ordered, please contact us promptly.
Where appropriate, we may ask for:
- Your order number
- Photographs of the packaging or product
- Details of the issue
- Any relevant batch or product information
This helps us investigate the problem quickly and, where appropriate, arrange a replacement or refund.
3. Faulty or Misdescribed Products
If a product is faulty, defective or materially different from its description, please get in touch with our customer service team. We will assess the issue and work with you on the appropriate remedy. Your statutory rights are not affected by anything in this policy. UK consumer law provides protections where goods are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to meet applicable requirements.
4. Order Cancellations
If you need to cancel an order, please contact us as soon as possible and include your order number. If your order has not yet been dispatched, we will make reasonable efforts to stop it before fulfilment. For online consumer purchases, certain statutory cancellation rights may also apply. These rights can depend on the type and condition of the goods, so please contact us if you are unsure whether your order qualifies.
5. Research Materials and Returns
Some research products and laboratory materials may have specific handling, storage, packaging or return considerations. For that reason, please do not send a product back without contacting us first. We’ll provide the appropriate return instructions where a return is applicable.
Where a product is supplied specifically for research or laboratory purposes, it should only be handled, stored and used in accordance with the applicable product information and intended research purpose.
6. Products That Cannot Be Returned
Certain products may not be suitable for return once opened, altered, contaminated or otherwise compromised, particularly where product integrity, sterility or laboratory handling could be affected. However, this does not remove any statutory rights you may have where a product is faulty, misdescribed or otherwise fails to meet applicable legal requirements. If you’re unsure about a particular order, simply contact us before returning anything.
7. Refunds
Once a refund has been approved, we will process it using the original payment method where possible. The time for the funds to appear in your account can depend on your bank or payment provider. Where UK law requires a refund, we will follow the applicable statutory requirements. For example, GOV.UK guidance states that where an online customer validly exercises the relevant cancellation right, the refund is generally due within 14 days of the returned goods being received.
8. Return Costs
Where an item is returned because it is faulty, incorrect or does not match its description, we will assess the circumstances and arrange the appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable consumer law. Where a customer simply changes their mind, return arrangements and costs may depend on the circumstances and the applicable cancellation rules. We’ll always explain this before asking you to return anything.
9. How to Request a Refund or Return
The easiest way to start is to contact us with:
Order number:
Product name:
Reason for your request:
Photos, if relevant:
Our team will review the information and let you know what happens next.
Please don’t dispose of, alter or return a product before speaking with us if there is an issue with your order.
10. We’re Here to Help
We don’t believe refunds and returns should feel complicated. If something has gone wrong with your order, contact us first. We’ll look at the situation, explain your options clearly and work towards a fair solution.
At ABZ Bio Lab, our goal isn’t simply to supply research materials. It’s to provide a professional experience from the moment you place an order to the moment it arrives.
Clear information. Reliable service. Research integrity.
Trusted Supplies for Modern Labs
Let’s be honest: nobody enjoys sending something back. A box arrives with a cracked vial, or you realise you ordered 0.45 µm filters when your method needs 0.22 µm, and suddenly you’ve lost a morning. We get it. So we’ve written our research product refund policy the way we’d want to read it ourselves, in plain English, with no hidden catches.
The short version: if we got it wrong, we’ll put it right. If you ordered the wrong thing, we’ll help where we can. And if something’s not clear, email us before you do anything at all: contact@abzbiolab.co.uk.
